Scamming is the act of cheating or tricking another Jammer out of an item, and it is considered very wrong within the community.
Scamming comes in all shapes and sizes, ranging from feeble attempts to tricks worthy of the phantoms.
Scamming Methods
"Trade me please! I'm poor!"
This scam pops up now and then and is, in short, really stupid.
The scammer takes their animal's clothes off, sets their den to the 'Small House', and removes all but a few items. Sometimes the person isn't actually scamming, but really, let them play some minigames and buy themselves some items. Plus, memberships come with free gems!
"Send me items and [I'll give you a rare], [make me look funny, cool, nice], [I'll send you a code]"
Any person that asks you to send them rare items for a supposed desirable item, such as a glitch, item, or code, is lying. Make sure to use the trade system, it was specifically added because people were becoming scammed by sending each-other gifts.
"I'm from AJHQ, and I need your item/password so I can update your item/account."
These people often create accounts with memberships with names that are very simplistic, like "SuperZap" that look like they were made in the BETA stage. If AJHQ had to visit every single person to update their accounts, AJ would be gone in a snap. AJHQ updates with code, not manually.
"My mom/dad works for Animal Jam and is going to ban you!"
This has happened to me many many times, and I always outsmart the people with one question:
This has happened to me many many times, and I always outsmart the people with one question:
"What company is AJHQ in?" (Answer: Wild Works/Smart Bomb)
They'll never know.
"Can I try on your [item]?"
They'll run away with it and never come back."Trade me I will NEVER accept!"
This scam consists of a jammer putting lots of items on trade, and claiming they will refuse every trade. They say that if you trade them something like a spike they will always say no, however, if you put up the item they want, they will definitely say yes.
